Questionnaire results analysis

To find out what people like to see in a music video I have created a questionnaire on Survey Monkey. I then distributed this questionnaire among my friends and followers on social media.

I got 38 responses to my questionnaire but over half of these respondents were females. This means that my questionnaire results will be gender biased.

Over 86% of my respondents were in the 16-25 age group which means there will be an age bias with my results. Especially since I didn't get any respondents from the 26-31 age group. Although my target market group for my music video is people in the 16-25 age bracket.
The majority of my respondents are full time students with just over 42% working part time. I didn't get many respondents who worked full time or were a part time student. This is probably because the majority of my respondents were young adults who are probably either in college or univeristy
Nearly 90% of my respondents earn under £5K annually. This means that my responses will not show what people with a higher income will look for in a music video.
The majority of my respondents preferred rock music to any other genre. Indie followed closely, along with pop. A small percentage favoured classical but no one preferred country. My music video will be for a song of the Indie genre, these results have reassured me that I have made the right decision to appeal to my target audience.
Every one of my respondents uses at least one form of social media, with nearly 90% using Facebook. This would make sense as I got most of my respondents from sharing the questionnaire link on Facebook. Other common social media that are not listed include WhatsApp and Reddit.
These results show that the majority of my target audience (teens and young adults) watch music videos on a regularly. This is good for me as I now know that my target audience will be interested in my music video.
29 of my respondents use YouTube or another video streaming website. This is useful to me as I will be uploading my music video to YouTube to get feedback from the public.
I got a wide range of answers when asking this question. Many of the artists were of the rock or indie genre which helps me as it shows that people in my target market like the genre of music that I am doing my music video for. Ed Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon were among some popular choices.
These results show that the majority, if not all, of the younger generation digitally downloads their music. I was surprised that over 15% of my respondents still bought their music on CD and the same amount of people listened to their music online as people bought their music on vinyl.
